Sean Long
Champion for Student Achievement
Why I’m Running
I’m running to ensure every student in Montclair achieves at their highest academic level. Recent test scores show we’re not where we need to be, and academics must always remain at the center.
Our schools should be a source of pride for the community, not concern.
I will champion student achievement while increasing transparency and using every lever available to the Board to drive accountability in both budgeting and student outcomes.
My Key Priorities
Student Achievement
Recent test scores make it clear: Montclair must do better. Academic achievement must always be the top priority, guiding every decision we make.
Fiscal
Responsibility
Montclair is in a serious budget deficit. We cannot keep kicking the can down the road. I am calling for a forensic audit, a detailed plan to fix the structural deficit, and budgeting that aligns every dollar with student achievement.
Support for Families & Teachers
Families navigating a range of school services need faster, clearer access to resources. Teachers need the tools and support to focus on helping every student thrive. Together, we can create a system where families feel supported and teachers are empowered to do their best work.
Preparing Students for Life
From expanding Universal Pre-K to strengthening Career & Technical Education, I will work to ensure Montclair students are prepared for college, careers, and life. Stronger mental health supports must also be in place, because academic success and well-being go hand in hand.
